Fue criado como metodista, pero desde el principio mostr\u00f3 fuertes tendencias ocultistas. La familia emigr\u00f3 a Nueva York en 1864. Judge se naturaliz\u00f3 como ciudadano estadounidense a los 21 a\u00f1os. Trabaj\u00f3 como empleado desde peque\u00f1o, ya que ten\u00eda que ser autosuficiente. Se cas\u00f3 en 1874 y tuvo una hija que muri\u00f3 de difteria en 1876. <br>Al momento de formarse la Sociedad Teos\u00f3fica, se desempe\u00f1aba como Secretario del Juzgado en la oficina del Fiscal Federal del Distrito de Nueva York. M\u00e1s tarde fue admitido en el Colegio de Abogados, e hizo una especialidad en Derecho Comercial. Era modesto, sencillo, ansioso por recibir instrucci\u00f3n oculta y predispuesto al trabajo. <br>Aunque al principio\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/theosophy.wiki\/es\/H.P.B.\">H.P.B.<\/a>\u00a0se opuso a que Judge se conviertiera en Consejero, \u00e9l se gan\u00f3 su cordial respeto y lo mantuvo. Desarroll\u00f3 liderazgo y se convirti\u00f3 en una de las figuras m\u00e1s importantes de La Sociedad. Luego surgieron dificultades y \u00e9l dirigi\u00f3 la secesi\u00f3n de la mayor\u00eda de las Logias estadounidenses en 1895. <br>Organiz\u00f3 y presidi\u00f3 el Congreso Teos\u00f3fico en el Parlamento de las Religiones del Mundo llevado a cabo en Chicago en 1893 durante la Exposici\u00f3n Colombina. Con sus escritos y extensivas conferencias, ayud\u00f3 a darle respeto y dar a conocer la teosof\u00eda en los Estados Unidos.
